Fordlea Road will be closed to through traffic effective Monday, January 12 for 6 to 8 weeks.
With dropping winter temperatures, Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus is reminding residents of the warming centers in Middletown, Newburgh, and Port Jervis.
“With these warming centers available across the County, we are doing our best to make sure that residents who need it can find respite from the cold,” said Neuhaus. “The warming centers offer a safe place to warm up, have a nourishing meal, and get information about essential resources. Orange County is committed to supporting and working to protect every member of our community.”
Residents can find help at the following warming centers across the County:
Middletown
Location: 8–10 Mulberry Street, Middletown, NY 10940
Hours: Doors open at 9:00 p.m. and are locked at 9:30 p.m. Guests must depart by 9:00 a.m. Extended morning hours in November and December: Saturdays until 10:30 a.m., Sundays until 12:30 p.m.
Details: Adults 18+ only; children not permitted. Dinner served 9:00 p.m. –10:00 p.m. Late arrivals should report to Middletown Police Station for transportation. Capacity: 30 guests.

Newburgh
Location: Newburgh Ministry (Hope Safe Tavern), 13 Bridge Street, Newburgh, NY 12550
Hours: Doors closed 9:30 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. Guests may remain during daytime if staying overnight.
Details: Adults only. Late arrivals may be admitted with police escort or after hospital discharge. Breakfast and dinner provided.

Port Jervis
Location: St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 31 West Main Street, Port Jervis, NY 12771
Hours: Doors open 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Guests must depart by 7:00 a.m. Late arrivals (10:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.) may be admitted with Port Jervis Police escort.
Details: Capacity 15–18 guests. Hot dinner provided, showers and donated clothing available.

“During the coldest months, exposure to winter weather can be dangerous, even deadly, for those without a safe place to stay,” said Lacey Trimble, Commissioner of the Orange County Department of Social Services and Mental Health. “By knowing where these warming centers are and spreading the word, we as a community can make a real difference and ensure that everyone has access to safety, warmth, and support.”

The Town of Minisink will be closed on January 19, 2026 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
In celebration of America's 250th anniversary, the Town of Minisink along with the Heritage Commission created the 2026 Commemorative Calendar. The calendar highlights community events and promotes local businesses and organizations as it celebrates Minisink's history.
Library Service
The Town of Minisink is pleased to announce that Minisink residents will now have two options for library service.
Beginning Monday January 27th , Minisink will be contracting with the Pike County Library, located at 119 East Harford Road, Milford PA. Minisink residents will have access to all library services. The procedure is the same; come into Minisink Town Hall to receive proof of residency and bring it with you to the library to obtain your card. The library has a drop off location in Matamoras on Avenue 10 in front of the municipal building to return materials.

Residents may also obtain a library card - immediately - with Sussex County Library, located at 69 County Route 639, Wantage NJ. You will have full access to all library services here as well. Simply go to the library and pay the $100 fee to obtain your card. Please bring your receipt to Minisink Town Hall for reimbursement.
